Weed Management Pilot Project
The City of Saskatoon (City) is working on a strategy to improve our parks green spaces, specifically turf and sports field conditions. Weed growth is increasing in parks and green spaces across Saskatoon, particularly in newer neighbourhoods. Therefore, the City is piloting various treatments (i.e., applying one round of herbicide, as well as adding topsoil, grass seed and fertilizer) in Prairie Lily Park to determine the effectiveness and cost implications.
In 2025 we engaged with the community on their support for the use of these treatments in public parks and green spaces. Engagement feedback, along with best practice research and internal City considerations, was provided to City Council in 2025.

Follow up Survey
We are now looking for feedback from nearby residents about how the pilot program and the work happening in the park were communicated. Your input will help improve how information is shared in the future and the development of a city-wide approach to managing weeds in green spaces.
The survey will remain open until July 31, 2026 and will take roughly 3-4 minutes to complete. Please contact us if you reside in the study area and have not received your notice to participate.
