Open Space Tree Planting

The City’s urban forest is facing significant challenges as we lose mature trees to disease, pests, weather events and other factors. Replacing these trees is an important part of maintaining a healthy, resilient urban forest.

To help offset the loss of our mature trees and continue to grow our urban forest, the City is exploring opportunities to plant trees in open spaces and other under-utilized areas to increase tree canopy, enhance neighbourhood character and help create more welcoming, usable public spaces.
