2026 Property Tax Policy

In March 2025, City Council directed Administration to seek community input prior to the development of a (property) tax policy that will help guide future decisions on how the property tax requirement is shared between residential and non-residential property owners. This direction included asking residents what principles and goals could guide the policy, as well as how the City can better explain tax policy to the public.

In response, the City is inviting residential and non-residential property owners, renters and other interested stakeholders to share their perspectives on the principles and factors City Council could consider when setting its future property tax policy.

Important note: The City’s overall budget process, expenditures, service priorities and any individual property assessments are not part of this engagement.
